Greetings For the New Millenium
Cheongju is the venue for the rise of the Iron Age and where the World's first metal printed book "Jikjusimchaeyogeol" was created.
'99 Cheongju International Craft Biennale was held in the ancient city of Cheongju.

The theme of Cheongju International Craft Biennale was 'Hands of Harmony.' It was a great place to view folk crafts that illustrate the Korean spirit, works of world-renowned contemporary artists and even industrial-living crafts.

Cheongju city is organizing the Cheongju International Craft Biennale as a venue for world craft cultural exchange and as a place for creation for the future in preparation for the 21st century cultural-industrial age.
Craft is breathing soul and life into a human being.

The '99 Cheongju International Craft Biennale will be the turning point of craft.

We invite you to experience and admire the art of crafts as you have never done before.

The award-winning works of the '99 Cheongju International Craft Biennale are displayed with the subsidiary theme, "By the Hands of Harmony", which present the message of new millennium.

Important Intangible Cultural Asset Holder Exhibition and the excellent award-winning works of the National Craft Competition with the subsidiary theme "Harmony of life and soul"

The first, second planning exhibition hall
Metal, ceramic, wood and lacquer, dye and weave crafts are displayed in the special exhibition hall while the contemporary and the traditional crafts are arranged in harmony.
Domestic and international artists are invited to display their works showing distinctive images on trends and features.

International exhibition hall
The exhibition hall is divided according to continents in order to present the different world craft industry trends. The various countries also have their individual sales and promotions activities. The visitors can also view North Korean craftworks.

Life and Industrial Exhibition hall
The hall consists of businesses and gallery parts that promote specific craft industries believed to eventually become a highly valued industries. They also they display, sell and publicize their own products.

The center of Korea
Cheongju is located in the center of Korea and is an important place for transportation passing the Gyeongbu and Jungbu expressway.

The city of education
Cheongju is famous as a city of education city having a population of 56000, with 5 universities and 3 colleges. The city has a highly qualified and superior educational environment.

The home of culture and art
Cheongju is the birthplace of the world's first metal printed book "Jikjusimchaeyogeol." It is also host to the Cheongju International Aviation Expo, the International Craft Biennale and the International Press and Printing Expo.

Cheongju is where the spirit of Seonbi (a classical scholarship) still remains.
Cheongju is home to the righteous men who offered their lives for the country when their people were in crisis. Classical scholar Danjae, Sin Cae-ho was born here.

Heungduksasi and Cheoldanggan (the Mecca of press and printing), Sangdang mountain forest wall, Sokri mountain, Wolak mountain, Sobaek mountain, Chungju lake, Daecheong lake (the largest man-made lake in Korea)

The mascot is designed through the combination of a simple curve line and traditional craftsmanship to encourage people to become closer.

The 5 colors, Red (sun), blue (sky), yellow (earth), dark gray (potential capability), and green (mountain) represent the nature-friendly image of Chungbuk, and the over-all harmony of the symbol shows the future-oriented spirit of Chungbuk.
